Thigh Lift

Thighplasty (thigh lift) procedure is designed to help improve the appearance of ones thighs by removing excess skin and fat. Many patients that have lost a significant amount of weight typically need to have the excess skin removed from between their thighs. The excess skin can cause problems for everyday tasks and can get in the way of their exercise activities. The thigh is also considered one of the problematic areas for losing fat even with diet and exercise. It is very common for patients to undergo a thigh lift to remove fat from this area in addition to the knee area. In most cases the knees are treated on the same day as the thighs are treated. Having received the Patients’ Choice Award from patients rating Baltimore plastic surgeons, Dr. Schreiber is devoted to his patients and to achieveing all of their aesthetic goals. You can contact Dr. Schreiber via an email appointment request or call his office at (410) 902-9800 to schedule a complimentary consultation.
Reasons for considering Thigh Lift:
- Improve contour of inner and outer thighs
- Remove excess skin of thighs
- Decrease redness and irritation of thigh skin after exercise
Thighplasty (thigh lift) – General Procedure
During your consultation Dr. Schreiber will fully assess the areas of concern and also determine whether or not you will need to have excess skin removed, liposuction or both. During the skin removal process Dr. Schreiber will make incisions in the groin area or down the inside part of the thigh for the removal of large amounts of skin. If only fat needs to be removed, Dr. Schreiber will use liposuction through very small incisions in several places of the thighs and legs.
Typically these procedures are done on an outpatient basis, but if you combine several procedures with your thigh lift you may need to stay overnight at the hospital. Thigh Lifts usually take 1-3 hours depending on the extent of the surgery. Follow-up after the procedure is done one week post-op.
Dr. Schreiber performs thighplasty (thigh lifts) and other cosmetic surgery procedures at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Maryland and at the SurgiCenter of Baltimore in Owings Mills, Maryland. Both of these facilities are easily accessible from Towson, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Pikesville, Ruxton, Lutherville, Howard County, Annapolis, and Washington D.C.
Recovery for Thigh Lift
The recovery time after a thigh lift usually requires about 1 week off of work and 2 weeks off from exercise. Recovery times are unique to each patient and it may take more or less time for your recovery. The bandages are removed at one week, and showering is resumed after the drains are removed. The drains are removed in the office one week after surgery. Scar therapy will then be started and Dr. Schreiber will review the details of this with you in the office.
