Introducing Belotero! A new facial filler for smoothing out the lines and wrinkles around the nose and lipsdoc : December 12, 2012 8:14 pm : Uncategorized
Everyone has heard about Juvederm, Restylane, and even Perlane. But now there is a new kid on the block called Belotero. It’s made up of hyaluronic acid, just like the others. So the effects are exactly the same. However, because it’s brand new the cost is significantly lower with great incentives to use it. All of the fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, and Perlane) are excellent for plumping up the lips, filling in the jowls, and smoothing out the lines and wrinkles around the nose and lips. The procedure is so easy…just 45 minutes of a numbing cream and then about 20 minutes for the procedure. There is no downtime and minimal discomfort! Consultations are complimentary for all Maryland cosmetic surgery patients to see if you’re a good candidate for Belotero. If you’ve already had fillers and you’re planning on getting more, check out Belotero for a nice result with a lower cost. Call (410) 902-9800 to schedule an appointment or fill out an online appointment request form here.
If you are considering breast augmentation Maryland there are a number of factors to consider prior to surgery. The most common decision is obviously the size and shape of implant and whether or not to go with silicone of saline. But besides the size, shape and type of implant the next most important is the incision technique.
The periareolar technique refers to an incision that is made around the areola, the circular area around the nipple. The incision is made along the border of the areola in an effort to minimize the visibility of scarring. In addition to minimal visibility, this type of incision allows for more accurate implant placement. A disadvantage of the periareolar incision is the risk of loss of nipple sensation, though this rare, occurring in about two to five percent of patients.
The inframammary incision is created along the underside of the breast, where the breast fold meets the body. Once the incision is made, the breast implant Maryland is slid up through the incision and set in place. Any scarring from this form of incision is generally hidden in the natural fold of the breast or beneath a bra or swimsuit. Inframammary incision sites can be re-opened during breast implant revision surgery, a great benefit since most breast implants need replacement after about 10 years. Another advantage to this type of incision is greater control of implant placement during surgery, leading to better results.
The transaxillary incision technique is performed by creating an incision in the underarm. An incision is made within the folds of the armpit, eliminating any scarring on the breast. The implant is then placed through this incision and positioned in the desired location. Though there is no visible scarring of the breast, the incision site within the underarm will still scar. There are disadvantages to this technique: the transaxillary approach does not allow for as accurate of placement as the areolar and inframammary techniques, and the incision cannot be re-used during breast implant revision surgery.
The TUBA incision, which stands for trans-umbilical breast augmentation, is a technique that involves an incision in the navel area. A V-shaped tunnel is created through the fat beneath the skin with the point of the V meeting at the incision. One incision is made just above the navel and both breast implants are place through the same incision. Generally, an endoscope is used to help guide the surgeon to proper implant placement. TUBA incisions, like transaxillary incisions, eliminate scarring on the breast. Some downsides of the TUBA incision technique include:
The possibility of visible “V” track within the abdomen Saline implants must be used. If revision is necessary, the TUBA incision cannot be used again.

As a Maryland rhinoplasty plastic surgeon, many of my patients ask about nose surgery. Breathing problems plague many of my patients and they can be helped! Nose surgery or rhinoplasty surgery can remove the septum of the nose if it’s deviated and it can also open up the nasal passageways at the same time. Many of these procedures to improve your breathing can be covered by your insurance. Also, if you’re unhappy with the shape or appearance of your nose, it can be reshaped and contoured at the same time that any breathing problems are fixed. Procedures to improve the look of the nose include straightening out a crooked nose, reducing a large bump on the top of the nose, or even making a wide nose more narrow. Come in to discuss your nasal aesthetic concerns and/or your breathing problems. The surgery is usually done as an outpatient and the recovery takes about 5-7 days.
Many of my patients ask if ear reshaping surgery is very involved. In fact, otoplasty or ear reshaping surgery is easier than you think. It’s usually done as an outpatient and the surgery takes about 2-3 hours. The downtime and discomfort are both very minimal, and the result can really restore one’s self confidence greatly. Ear surgery can pull back ears that are too prominent, it can correct ear cartilage that is too bulky, and it can even help those who have suffered traumatic cauliflower ear deformities, like wrestlers. As a Baltimore ear surgery specialist, ear surgery is like a work of art and I really enjoy performing this type of surgery.
How to choose a plastic surgeon
You body is very important. Before opting to have anything done or altered on it, it is paramount that you choose the right person to do the job. Choosing a plastic surgeon Maryland is not hard but there are several important things that you should highly prioritize before choosing a specialist.
One of the best ways of choosing a good plastic surgeon is by getting recommendations from family and friends. You should ask around to find out if anyone you know knows a good professional. If you know someone who has also had the same procedure that you want done to him or her, you should inquire and get details about who the professional is. This, however, should not be the sole basis of choosing a plastic surgeon. Each patient is unique and you will find each surgeon will have their strong points. Especially when considering facial surgery you want to go with a plastic surgeon Maryland that specializes in facial surgeries.
Checking the credentials of a plastic surgeon is of paramount importance. This is meant to increase your odds of getting good services. The specialist should be certified by the American board of plastic surgery. This is to ensure that the surgeon is well equipped and fully capable of providing the desired services in the proper manner.
There are several places where you can find such information. These include directories and other places such as hospitals, the surgeon’s office and professional societies. It is also equally as important to look for information on any training that the specialist may have also received.
After all this has been verified the next step is to schedule an interview. This is the part where you should be very thorough so as to determine whether the professional chosen is the right person for the job. This is where you get all the important information regarding things like his or her personality, opinions on the procedure you want to have, the fees and the way that the plastic surgeon will handle you as a potential patient.
The cost should also be factored in before choosing a surgeon. The price should be affordable. That is why it is important to compare prices and have rough estimates of reasonable costs for the procedure. You should ask any financial questions that are meant to minimize the burden on you. A good surgeon will always ensure that you get your value for money and that you are satisfied. After everything is done and you are satisfied then you can confidently hire the surgeon to take care of your needs.

A lot of my patients complain of the tired look to their eyes. They dislike the excess hanging skin of the upper eyelids and the puffiness of the lower eyelids. This can be treated with surgery called upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasties. It is an outpatient procedure and the recovery is only about 3-5 days. As a Maryland cosmetic surgery specialist, I truly enjoy performing this procedure because it can really “wake-up” tired appearing eyes and add to other facial rejuvenation procedures like a facelift.
